When splitboarding and exploring the backcountry, crampons are a must for safe travel on snow and ice. This is why Northwave has built the new Domain CR boots much lighter than the old model, still with a Vibram sole compatible with crampons. The Super Lace system with two different boot closures gives you the perfect fit and feel, while the thermo-molded and supportive TF3 liner will keep your feet warm and comfortable all day long.
The new dedicated freeride sole is made in collaboration with Vibram® to provide superior grip and stability while the touring mode allows riders to cross icy trails and steep mountain ascents. The compatibility of front and back crampons makes this sole unique for extremely technical and demanding hikes. It is compatible with walking crampons, loop crampons and hybrid crampons. TF3Liner
The liner is in Thermo-Fit foam which targets the areas to be adjusted and allows you to personalize the boot instantly by heating it, or over time thanks to your body heat. The malleable adjustable areas are anatomically designed and contain memory foam to provide a better fit and stay more comfortable. New straps on the liner accompanied by buckles positioned on the edges of the liner as well as an exclusive cut-out strip that naturally adapts to your instep allow better adjustment of the boot and optimal distribution of power transmission on the surface of the liner. Liner Straps Update: Northwave analyzed their athletes' movements to avoid uncomfortable pressure points and placed padding where needed to create a perfect interface to match the bindings ankle strap. Velcro Power Strap for more comfort: It offers more pop on the upper part of the liner, for a more secure closure of the liner supported by the lace locking system on the liner. The Contour Cushion sole has two EVAs: one green and one black. The green part, more rigid, keeps your foot stable while the black part absorbs the strongest impacts.
With the 540 ° heel support system, the laces pass through pre-curved loops to minimize friction. When you pull the laces to close the boot, they pull the straps to which the lace loops are connected and thus improve heel stability. This mechanism is based on straps that go through a hole in the side of the boot and tighten the liner at the heel. The more you pull on the laces, the more power you will transmit to the ankle area, increasing heel-holding performance and foot stability.
The Domain CR also features Domain Reinforcement, an advanced structure that has been specifically redesigned in the construction of the sole to gain even more efficient power transmission and superior support in off-road riding. Thanks to a reinforced TPU arch that wraps the foot from the sole to the calf, you will have a perfect connection with the binding and the board, and all the necessary progressive support.
The Super Lace system is a fast lacing system that allows you to close two different areas of the boot, the buttress part and the leg part, in order to allow you to select the perfect feeling in these two places, and to improve the comfort and the stability of your foot. The boot can be closed quickly, and it stays tight and performs all day.
